Back to full-time in person learning in a few weeks,
Imagining the sense of “normalcy” but also imagining the differences that will still be felt
Get ready, gear up, get prepared for changes are coming
Changes can be good, changes can be scary, changes can be hard
Hearing student’s worries and questions and excitement
Answering what can be answered, acknowledging what can’t right now
New learning, new routines, a new community (in a way)
Get ready, gear up, get prepared for changes are coming
Everyone’s coming back, everyone’s in different spaces and places
Soon to be bracing a new challenge, the next pivot – big or small?
Making room for all nineteen fifth-graders
Ahead of Spring Fever and “5th Grade Fever”
Letting them know we’ll be together again
Letting them know they’ll be safe
Counting on what’s expected
Having hope that it will feel like a breath of fresh air
Adventure awaits
Needing to find a new rhythm, but, it’s been done before
Get ready, gear up, get prepared for changes are coming
Especially a change that might make things feel a little, a bit, a tad, a smidge – like they used to
A bit, a tad, a smidge… definitely more like they used to than what it’s been feeling!

So much said in the white space – poetry is the perfect structure of this piece. I agree with Melanie – that line says it all
