Beep, beep, beep beep beep. The refrigerator was letting my mom know she had it open for too long. The crescendo of beeps can become quite agitating.
I heard my mom murmur something back.
“Did you just tell the fridge to ‘be quiet‘ (replace italicized with a less polite word choice)?!?,” I asked her.
She turned to me and we burst into laughter. Her face also showed her own shock with what just came out of her mouth-this was so out of character for her. Yet, somehow the fridge has become my mom’s punching bag during social distancing. I’m just glad she’s chosen less sensitive objects to express her frustration towards.
Watch out, microwave.
I think the fridge can handle her frustrations. But, man, they can be noisy when they protest. (We have one that beeps at us when the door is open too long too.)

Glad you could have a laugh. Seems like everything in my house makes some sort of a chime.

All of our appliances are loud. Give me another couple of days and I’m going to be right there with your mother. Watch out microwaves and everything else, as well.

The humor wrapped around this post, and the frayed nerves, lightens a moment for us all. That last line – perfect! (I do hope the microwave will be okay-!!)
