“With social distancing, pretty soon we are just going to hear all of the dogs in the neighborhood,” my neighbor said to me (approximately 6 feet away) as I stood at the edge of the driveway, getting my music set for my run.
“Ha! I know it’s so crazy,” I responded.
I had a few more changes to make to my playlist. I stalled at the edge of the driveway for a few more moments, looking at the house across the street.
“Whoaa!” I thought to myself… “The ____’s have a dog? How come I never noticed? Wait a moment, is that another dog? They have TWO dogs that I’ve never noticed?!”
I have to give a shout out to these neighbors because in the five or so years they’ve lived there, I’ve never heard their dogs bark. But, what’s more important is that maybe this social distancing will let us notice and appreciate what has been right in front of us, as we take more moments to pause.
people are paying attention to the little things – mother nature is requiring us to pause it seems

That is a good observation. I think I need to get a handle of my anxiety first then I will notice the other stuff. Starting to panic a bit.

Lots of animals popping up in slices I’ve read so far today. Perhaps this noticing is, um, contagious. Thanks for sharing what you observed.

We are focusing on less and have more time to focus on it. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the long run.

Excellent point, about stopping to notice what is in front of us. I wonder if social distancing will make us a better society afterward.
